Zero-Discrimination Day 2024

Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) celebrated on 1st March Zero-Discrimination Day with two workshops. Zero-Discrimination Day is observed on the 1st of March each year and aims to fight structural and cultural prejudice and advance equality and fairness in societies around the world. It also underlines how people can become informed about and promote inclusion, compassion, peace, and, above all, a movement for change.

Our objective was to give participants the possibility to think critically about the world around them. For our first activity, we talked to our youngest participants and showed them an animated video about discrimination. After that, they made a big-sized flower with symbolic words and coloured it.

For our second activity, Jonathan and Simon prepared a presentation for 16+ about diverse shapes of discrimination in daily life, language, and cards with phrases as a tool for discussion.

The workshop was held at the premises of the Youth Centre of Brčko District.
