Svitac Bosnia welcomes all who wish to volunteer and give their time and energy to help break down the barriers of racial prejudice and promote tolerance in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. There is no maximum age limit, however all applicants must have a genuine willingness to help, show initiative, and bring a positive ‘can-do’ attitude. If this sounds like you, do not wait – simply apply and become part of the team!

To apply to volunteer or intern with Omladinska Organizacija Svitac, please register through one of the online portals provided by our partners:

We offer a highly varied programme that can be tailored to suit the skills and interests of each participant volunteer instructor. There are several areas of focus and volunteers generally assist where the need is greatest, or where their skills are best suited, but usually include sharing knowledge or presenting classes/activities in:

  • Arts
  • Music
  • Drama
  • Sports
  • Languages

Whilst our workshops are designed to be fun and educational, participants learn not only to socialise with each other, but learn about different cultures, tolerance for teamwork and to follow different rules.

Due to the nature of this project, volunteers are required to participate for a minimum of two (2) months. As volunteers on this program will be working with young people of mixed language abilities, with only some of whom speaking English (or German), each volunteer is expected to study the local language/s (Serbian/Bosnian/Croatian) during their time in Brčko and to this end they will each be provided with a short language course as part of the program!

This is a truly life-changing project, dealing with real-world issues. Become Svitac volunteer and help us break down the walls of racial prejudice and build tolerance in quite divided community!
