The International Day of Non-Violence 2023

The International Day of Non-Violence is celebrated on October 2nd, the day Mahatma Gandhi was born, one of the leaders of the Indian independence movement and the founder of the philosophy and strategy of nonviolent resistance.

Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) has marked symbolically this day with our 4+ at a creative workshop. With our youngest participants, we started the workshop with a discussion about violence in general and watched an educative video adapted to their age. The video was about how to fight peer violence and how to develop empathy.

Together with local and international volunteers the group has also made a scarecrow that has superpowers, fights bad people and violence, and helps children.

The workshop was held on the premises of the Youth Centre Brčko District.
