Youth Music Camp Fosters Intercultural Exchange
A week-long music camp was successfully held from July 20 to 27 at the Pecka Visitor Center in the municipality of Mrkonjić Grad, bringing together 15 young participants from Brčko, two international volunteers from Germany, and one local volunteer. The camp served as a dynamic platform for musical exploration, creativity, and intercultural connection.
Organized with the aim of fostering cross-cultural understanding and artistic collaboration, the camp offered two music workshops each day—one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Morning sessions involved all participants in rhythm games, collaborative rehearsals, and the creation of original compositions, encouraging teamwork and communication through music.
In the afternoons, participants worked in smaller groups to arrange and develop music based on their own interests, whether by composing original songs, reinterpreting existing pieces, or refining the morning’s work.
In addition to music-focused activities, the camp offered a variety of recreational and creative pursuits, including sports, hiking excursions, drawing sessions, and evening film screenings, all of which contributed to a well-rounded and engaging experience.
The primary goal of the camp was to foster meaningful intercultural exchange and cooperation among all participants. Participants left the camp not only with new musical skills but also with strengthened friendships and a deeper appreciation for collaboration across cultural boundaries.
