Youth Express Network “Mind the Gap!”
This picture was taken at our office on Wednesday, April 22nd, during a visit by 26 international volunteers from the seminar “Mind the Gap!” organised by the Y-E-N (Youth Express Network) and PRONI. The picture is during a visit by 11 of those volunteers.
The main topic of the seminar was the access to social rights by young people, and three Svitac volunteers were there to answer every question the visitors had about our organization and its activities. The representatives of Svitac were: Nicholas Zdun (long-term EVS international volunteer), Milos Popic and Marija Tomic (two local volunteers).
Questions included:
- How was the organisation established? Who is Ellie Maxwell?
- What kind of workshops do EVS volunteers do in Svitac?
- What is the process of choosing an EVS volunteer?
- What do the daily lives and activities of EVS volunteers look like?
- What are the volunteers’ experiences working with Svitac?
- What kind of workshops does Svitac run at the moment?
- Which Svitac activities/events are held every year?
- What did Svitac’s social work consist of of during the floods in 2014?
- What happens after volunteering long-term EVS in Brčko? Do the volunteers visit? Can they stay?
- What kind of social activities and services does Svitac offer to young people in Brčko?
The visitors also received a tour of the Svitac office, and seemed satisfied with answers to their questions. We were happy to host them, and believe they were equally happy with the cooperation and communication they had with us.
