World Refugee Day 2022

World Refugee Day is celebrated on June 20 to raise awareness of the difficult situation facing people around the world who are being forced to leave their homes.

Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) marked this day with participants aged 4-7 years with an adapted working and methodical method. We did a storytelling workshop from the book “Hedgehog’s Home by a famous writer for children Branko Ćopić about Hedgemond the Hunter, a brave and stubborn little hedgehog. Down in the wild woods, he proudly tends to his beloved house, but some animals just can’t understand what the fuss is about. The brave Hedgemond proves to the grumpy bear and the greedy boar that there is no place like home! Having a home means enjoying freedom.

We wanted to show the participants symbolically that everybody should have a place to live and that no one has the right to take away living space, or home or separate them from friends and family.

The workshop was held on the premises of the Youth Center Brcko District.
