World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development 2023

The United Nations proclaimed the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development to celebrate the richness of the world’s cultures and the essential role of intercultural dialogue in achieving peace and sustainable development.

Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) discussed cultural differences in food, clothes, dance, and sign language with our youngest participants. Our Turkish volunteer, Zeliha, demonstrated a few words in Turkish sign language, which the participants enjoyed practicing. We also discussed the world’s continents, various creatures, and customs. The group has created a banner with flags from many nations and an animal poster.

With participants 16+, we shared food that everyone brought from home and homemade rose flower juice, which is typical for this part of the year in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Young people also created a poster about culture, dialogue, and diversity.
The activities were held at the premises of the Brčko District Youth Centre.
