My volunteering at Svitac (Firefly) – Terlyn Noiles, Canada
My time volunteering with Svitac (Firefly) was short but nonetheless fulfilling and exciting. Having travelled through Bosnia beforehand, I was looking for an opportunity to become better immersed in the everyday lives of the locals, and Svitac (Firefly) certainly did not disappoint. This opportunity allowed me to get to know more about the culture and language of the region from the amazing local children and staff, while also providing me with the chance to meet an wonderful group of fellow international volunteers.
From the very beginning, I felt incredibly welcomed by both the international and local Svitac (Firefly) community, and was always encouraged to share my own ideas and thoughts about the workshops, which made it so easy to become settled in my new surroundings. The overall positive nature and dedication of the Svitac (Firefly) community empowered me to learn countless valuable life lessons and make so many great memories that I’ll never forget.
My time in Bosnia with Svitac (Firefly) was a wholeheartedly enriching experience, and the only regret I have is that I cannot stay longer. I sincerely hope that I can continue to remain active in this beautiful country, starting with a return visit to Svitac (Firefly).
Hvala vam puno 🙂
