The International Day of Peace
The International Day of Peace celebrates global solidarity and is observed around the world on 21st September. The UN General Assembly has declared this a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace and building a peaceful and sustainable world.
Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) has marked the International Day of Peace with participants aged 4-6 years and 16+.
With the youngest group, we created a modest masterpiece. We painted a peace dove on the canvas and discussed the value of peace in the globe. This important topic was also discussed with the 16+ age group, with a focus on the song “Imagine” by John Lennon. Following that, we created a poster outlining the lyrics of the song and wrote peace messages beginning with the word imagine on the doves.
Our team has a message: we can coexist and peace belongs to everyone!
