The International Day of Nonviolence
The International Day of Nonviolence is celebrated on October 2nd, on the day Mahatma Gandhi was born, one of the leaders of the Indian independence movement and the founder of the philosophy and strategy of nonviolent resistance.
We celebrated this day with our 15+ participants at a graffiti writing workshop and sending a message of peace. We started the workshop with a discussion on violence, war and peace, and on democracy and pacifism.
We also watched a video about current battlefields in the world, and after that, we did a creative part with sprays and writing messages on posters. In this way, we allowed young people to send a message of peace creatively, in teamwork. The workshop was held in the premises of the Youth Centre Brčko District.
