Svitac recognised for 2014 Flood Relief Work
On 29th December 2014, the Brčko District Government recognised Svitac and other organisations with an official certificate as a thanks for “humanitary, solidarity and help” during the floods that devastated the region.
The heads of the executive and legislative authorities have prepared a New Year reception
29.12.2014. during the completion of another business year, the Mayor of Brcko District of BiH dr. Anto Domic and the President of the Assembly, Djordje Kojic, prepared a traditional New Year’s reception in the hotel ‘Jelena’ for representatives of political, economic, cultural and sporting life of the Brcko District of BiH, as well as representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, independent institutions and NGOs.
Representatives of the District government officials wished happy and successful upcoming holidays to all guests and rated the last 2014 as a very difficult year.
Brcko mayor, Dr. Anto Domić, recalled that the year began with reconstruction of the District Government and demonstrations by groups of citizens, which was followed by floods, landslides and ice, the crisis of the legislature, and the liquidation of ‘Bobar Bank’.
In this respect, Dr. Domić stressed that this community managed to slightly increase the number of employees and significantly invest in repairing damage caused during natural disasters, as well as incentives to improve the state of the economy, while the President of the Assembly, Djordje Kojic, said that all that wasn’t achieved in this year endeavour legislative power is going to achieve in the coming year.
At tonight’s reception, Brcko Mayor presented the thanks to governmental organizations and associations for the expressed humanity, solidarity and assistance during the floods during 2014. These were awarded to representatives of humanitarian organizations: Circle of Serbian Sisters’ “Mother Jevrosima “,” Caritas ” and “Merhamet” Brcko, then the Association of sport fishermen “Ravne Tinja” Donja Skakava, the professional fire brigade Tuzla, Youth Club Dubrava, Environmental Associations “Dar Prirode” Brka, the Rescue Service “WOLF” Foca, Youth Club Brka, Fishing Association of Brcko District of BiH, the Youth Center “Vermont”, Omladinska organizacija „Svitac“ (Youth organisation Svitac) and Youth Club Ivici.
