Summer Camps and Children’s Day: A Week of Learning, Laughter, and Lasting Memories!
From August 25th to 29th, the Youth Centre in Brčko was buzzing with creativity, music, and curiosity as three exciting summer camps came to life — topped off with a joyful celebration on Children’s Day, August 30th! These camps were not just about having fun (though there was plenty of that) — they were also about learning new skills, exploring different cultures, and connecting through creativity. Each day, children dived into workshops that turned into mini-adventures filled with art, languages, music, and new friendships.
Creative-Language Camp
This camp was a colorful mix of ecology, recycling, sports, and languages (English, Turkish, and even Sign Language). Kids explored the world through their imagination, creating beautiful artworks while learning about sustainability and communication across cultures. With the help of enthusiastic international volunteers, participants not only got creative with their hands, but also with their words — practicing conversations and sparking meaningful dialogues.
Music Camp
What is that sound? It is the beat of samba drums, boomwhackers, and body percussion echoing through the halls!
In just five days, a group of young music-lovers composed an original piece called “Ahoj”, built from catchy rhythms and playful melodies. The choir group also took on a challenge — rehearsing “Fireflies” by Owl City, and even adapting the chorus into BHS!
Their hard work and creativity came together beautifully during their big performance on Children’s Day.
Children’s Day – August 30th
The grand finale was truly magical. Families, friends, and community members gathered to enjoy an inspiring exhibition and performances by the children. From face painting and obstacle games to musical chairs and Bingo surprises, the day was packed with excitement. Smiles were everywhere, and you could feel the pride as children showcased what they had learned throughout the week.
The Summer Camps and Children’s Day have become a cherished tradition in Brčko — a time where learning meets fun, cultures connect, and kids shine. This is not just a one-time event; it is a growing movement that brings the community together and empowers young minds. And with each passing year, it just gets better!
