SPRING FESTIVAL 2017

On 21st April 2017, Omladinska organizacija Svitac (Firefly) organized an event for its participants, their families and friends. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Svitac’s (Firefly’s) international and local volunteers, the event was a big success. More than 100 participants, including our guests from an NGO Amica – House of Friendship (who also participated in the program), joined us in our Youth Centre and had a great time socializing and enjoying the program of activities set up by Svitac (Firefly) staff and volunteers.

The event programme was full of entertaining and amusing performances. Our friends from Amica presented a short film that raised awareness about environmental issues and their music groups also performed three songs. Svitac (Firefly) participants from the age 8+ group performed a flute composition, two songs, and a dance routine. Ben Owens (EVS volunteer from Great Britain), and Milica Baćanov (Svitac’s/Firefly’s Daily Schedule Coordinator), along with the other international and local volunteers, helped participants from the 4-6 years age group to perform two songs. The first song called “Music Man” was performed in English, and the second song called “Leptiriću šareniću” was performed in the local language.

At the end of the programme, our guests were invited to take part in some interactive activities held by local volunteers and Amica. The activities on offer were a face painting station, and two arts and crafts stalls, one where children could create and decorate a paper mache planet, and another where children could turn their wishes into paper butterflies to decorate a spring tree. All guests were then invited to enjoy refreshments.

We had a wonderful time hosting this year’s Spring Festival and are looking forward to see you all here again next year!

Total participants: 120
