My volunteering at Svitac – Samantha Peterson, USA

“My decision to volunteer at Svitac has been one of the best choices I have made. While I was only here for one month, my time as a Svitac volunteer has been nothing short of incredible. Working with the kids every day on various art, dance, music and language workshops has been so much fun. My first day, I was worried about the language barrier, but the kids are all so sweet and willing to try to communicate with all of us foreigners (a little help from the local speakers was always appreciated though). The staff and other volunteers at Svitac also work so hard to make sure that not only do the kids have a great experience, but the volunteers too. They are incredibly flexible with allowing each volunteer to work on creating projects/workshops based on their interests and skills which ends up creating a fun, innovative and creative place for everybody involved. My workshops included teaching an acapella version of “The Final Countdown”, helping with an English class for adults, teaching line dancing and various art projects. My only downside to volunteering here was how short my month felt. I am definitely not ready to leave, and wish that I could have stayed for much longer. I have nothing but the best to say about Svitac and everybody that I have worked with here. Thank you, Svitac, for such a fantastic month!”
