My volunteering at Svitac (Firefly Bosnia) – Halil Kutlu, Turkey

When I started my voluntary service at Svitac (Firefly Bosnia) six months ago, I didn’t know I will spend the best time of my life here.

That was my first abroad experience, I have never worked with children before and I wasn’t sure what would happen during those 6 months. In the end, it was a great experience above my expectations. Six months flew by and I’ve had a great time with Svitac’s (Firefly Bosnia’s) staff, other volunteers, and especially with children.

Svitac (Firefly Bosnia) is place for developing creativity and respect for all differences. During my volunteering time I had the opportunity to work with some of the kindest people I’ve ever met, coming from both Svitac’s (Firefly Bosnia’s) staff and international and local volunteers. Working with the children has always been a lot of fun, and watching children laughing and enjoying themselves is a great feeling.

Brčko is a great and beautiful place for volunteering as well as for life. Small and beautiful town on the edge of the Sava River. People have always been friendly and the nature is awesome.

Volunteering at Svitac (Firefly Bosnia) was a huge step into the unknown for me, I am so grateful to Svitac (Firefly Bosnia) for providing me with these opportunities and experiences.

I will never forget the time I spent here. I hope we’ll meet again.

See you soon!
