My volunteering at Svitac (Firefly Bosnia) – Halil Bodurer, Turkey
It was a truly life-changing experience!
I come from Izmir and I was tired from my work and decided to have a change in my career. When I saw the opportunity to become a volunteer in Brčko, I impulsively took it and don’t regret it.
It was my first time to work with kids, so I was very excited about it. I knew that I would be confronted with new challenges such as experiencing a new culture and being exposed to a foreign language. From the first day on, I met with kindness and saw how charitable the Svitac’s (Firefly Bosnia’s) staff and the other volunteers are.
I collected a lot of experience and got to know a lot of new things, met great people with whom I worked together as a team. I take a lot from my time with the volunteers and the kids.
Svitac (Firefly Bosnia) gave me a chance to involve myself in their organisation and the local community and helped me greatly overall with the learning process.
