Mother Language Day 2022

UNESCO has designated February 21 as Mother Language Day to pay more attention to and nurture linguistic and cultural diversity.

On Monday 21st February Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) celebrated International Mother Language Day. We began with attempting to communicate without language and instead of using our bodies. After this, we learnt about ancient languages and then we learnt about the old Glagolitic script. We compared this to our modern alphabets and had fun translating our names into the old script in the shape of a mosaic.

The workshop was held at the premises of the Youth centre Brčko District.
