March 2016 Activities at Svitac

During March Svitac continued with regular activities:

  1. Culture and Art Diversity around the World (includes English, German, Art&Crafts, Music and Sports workshops from Monday to Friday)
    • Younger group did paper mache (they glued paper on balloons and made air balloons), made caterpillars and birds out of paper, made cards for mothers for International Women’s day, made paper flowers and flowers with dried daisies, made paper hands that were matched together, learned shapes, made their own made up flags, learned the numbers 7 and 8, learned the second stanza of the song in local language “Djeca su ukras svijeta”, and learned songs in English such as “I like the flowers”, “Sweet dreams” and “Let it be”.
    • Older group were rehearsing the play “Karijes”, revised comparison of the adjectives, learned some new adverbs, fruits, vegetables and clothes, repeated numbers, family members and verbs TO BE and TO HAVE in English and German. 2. Music workshops (guitar, music workshops for children)
  3. Language workshops (English, German)
  4. I love English (informal English workshops for teenagers and young people);
  5. “Lasst uns Deutsch sprechen!/Pricajmo njemacki!“ (“Let’s speak German”) informal German workshops for teenagers and young people.
  6. Drama klub – The group started work on single scenes in order to work out the details as well as to train the text. They are going to rehearse a different scene every Tuesday and to try to give each actor the possibility to have some rest and not to be obliged to come every week. All the actors will see each other from time to time, so that there is no splitting of the group – just more effective working with each other. There is possibility for the group to present the first two scenes in the spring festival in April.
  7. Sports workshops (“Freeletics”, Karate);
  8. Local language lessons for international volunteers
  9. School homework help

139 participants attended regular Svitac workshops in March. The participants attending all these regular workshops were aged between 4 and 40 years old. The youngest and the oldest participants attended Culture and Art Diversity around the World workshops, and English/German workshops for adults.
