International Friendship Day 2022

International Friendship Day was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN bearing in mind the vision that friendship among people, countries, cultures and individuals can create conditions of peace and build bridges between communities. World Friendship Day is an initiative presented by UNESCO to the UN General Assembly back in 1997, which defined a culture of peace as a set of values, attitudes and activities that reject all forms of violence to prevent possible conflicts.

On 29th July Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) celebrated the International Day of Friendship through the workshop for participants ages 4-7 and 8-12. In the creative part, we made a postcard where the participants draw the face of their best friends and wrote a short description.

With the older group we did an advanced version, but in a shape of a cloud with adjectives to describe their best friend. The activity aimed to develop the ability of empathy, perception, creativity and imagination and to love and take care of our friends.
