International Friendship Day
International Friendship Day was proclaimed in 2011 by the UN bearing in mind the vision that friendship among people, countries, cultures and individuals can create conditions of peace and build bridges between communities. World Friendship Day is an initiative presented by UNESCO to the UN General Assembly back in 1997, which defined a culture of peace as a set of values, attitudes and activities that reject all forms of violence in an effort to prevent possible conflicts.
On 30th July Svitac (Firefly Bosnia) celebrated International Day of Friendship through the workshops for participants ages 4-7 and 15+. In the creative part, we made a heart for the best friend and a list of things that tells us what friendship is. This way, we sent a message about the importance of friends in our lives.
The aim of the activity was to develop the ability of empathy, perception, creativity and imagination and to love and take care of our friends.
The group of 15+ had the opportunity to watch a video about friendship, and send us photos with their best friend.
