International Day of Peace 2022

Every year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has declared this a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace. Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) has marked the International Day of Peace with participants aged 4-6 years.

In the first part of the workshop, we asked them if they knew what the word peace means and to describe it in their own words. We also talked about symbols for peace and watched a video adapted to their age. In the creative part, we made hand prints of doves and white doves on a wooden sticks.

Our international volunteers from Germany Lotte, Lenja and Maika made a beautiful poster with a fox and rabbits laying together and sending a strong message that we can be together no matter what. We believe that it is very important to learn and understand from an early age how good and important it is to live in peace and appreciate it.
