International Day of Families 2023
The United Nations began to focus on issues relating to the family in the 1980s, and ever since the International Day of Families has been marked on the 15th of May.
In Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia), we held a workshop with children talking about a wide range of families, as well as about the importance of having a safe place. We used the picture frame with symbols as a technique to draw the family members and children reflecting on who they live with. We also made a beautiful poster with keywords and symbols such as support, happiness, love, home, and safety.
By sharing this information and talking about it together, participants exchanged knowledge and feelings about their families and talked about the importance of family.
The workshop was held at the premises of the Youth centre, Brčko District.
