International Day of Democracy 2023
Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) has marked with 16+ participants the International Day of Democracy!
The group has talked about focusing on young people’s essential role in advancing democracy; the participants also agreed that their voices should be included in the decisions that have a profound impact on their world.
In the first part of the workshop one of the local volunteers held a presentation about democracy, why is it important, and why it plays a vital role in the story of civilization. The next part was a Kahoot quiz about advantages such as the right to vote and disadvantages – uninformed voters and many more examples. Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) believes in the importance of learning and understanding from an early age how good and important it is to live in a democratic society and to have equal rights.
To this day (15th of September), International Democracy Day is being held under the UN Convention.
