International Day of Democracy 2022

Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) has marked with participants the International Day of Democracy!

The workshop was attended by 16 participants aged 4-6 years.
In the first part of the workshop, we asked them if they knew what the word democracy meant, and talked to them about this topic, using a method adapted to their age. We then listened to a story about three butterflies who were lost in the heavy rain and could not hide under the flowers, because just one of them had a chance to dry its wings. The point of the story is that all three butterflies did not have equal rights, due to the colour of their wings. Through a simple method of storytelling, we learned how important equal rights are for all. In the second creative part, we made colourful and shiny butterflies.

We believe that it is very important to learn and understand from an early age how good and important it is to live in a democratic society and to have equal rights.

To this day (15th of September), International Democracy Day is being held under the UN Convention.
