International Day of Non-Violence 2017

On October 2nd Svitac Bosnia (Firefly) celebrated International Day of Non-Violence.

In the morning, our younger group (4 to 7) drew and colored pictures of themselves as knights for peace, who carried roses, not swords, to demonstrate that they abhorred violence and encouraged a peaceful settlement to all disputes.
The children also learned an oath in which they promised to always find the most peaceful solution to a problem, never cause either physical or emotional harm to another, and help prevent others from doing so.

With the older group (8 to 14) a game and then discussion were carried out that made the participants think about what violence is and how to prevent it.
Additionally a banner, enforcing the ideas of peaceful reconciliation and respect was created by the group which can be viewed in the Brčko District Youth Center.
