INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST FASCISM AND ANTI-SEMITISM 2024

On November 7th, Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) observed the International Day against Fascism and Anti-Semitism with a group of high school students.

The interactive workshop centered on radicalization, misinformation, hate speech, and provocation. Questions were raised, such as what is meant by radicalization on social networks, how disinformation can imperil antifascist movements, how hate speech can affect antifascist activists’ work, are there safe modes of communication, and why anonymity is important in some situations.

Discussion was the main objective, followed by work in smaller groups. Each group was tasked with designing a poster that included the most relevant information concerning radicalization, misinformation, hate speech, and other elements related to the term ‘fascism’. During the workshop, the students learnt about different types of antifascism and antifascist activities, as well as how much effort is required to prevent fascists and neo-Nazis from attaining power.
