Human Rights Day 2025
Every year on December 10th, Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) celebrates Human Rights Day, a moment to remember that everyone deserves dignity, equality, and freedom. This day marks the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948—a document that lists the basic rights and freedoms every person should have, no matter who they are or where they come from.
For high school students, Human Rights Day is a chance to learn about important issues like equality, justice, and standing up against discrimination. It encourages young people to think about the world around them and how they can help make it fairer and more inclusive.
By talking about these rights and reflecting on real-world challenges, we celebrate how far we have come—and remind ourselves that protecting human rights is everyone’s responsibility.
