Human Rights Day 2024
Every year on December 10th, the international community observes Human Rights Day. It honours the day the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948. The topic for this year is “Equality for all,” which highlights the continuous fight for justice and equal rights around the globe.
Svitac (Firefly in Bosnia) has celebrated this day with high school students.
After seeing an informative video explaining human rights, students were split into four groups and given more in-depth assignments on gender equality, social status, journalism, and critical thinking. In the workshop’s last section, the groups gave a brief overview of their discussions before working together to create a poster using symbolic quotes about human rights.
