Global Money Week

On March 9th, Omladinska organizacija Svitac (Firefly) supported the activity “Global Money Week” initiated by Association of High School Students in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ASuBiH) for our participants. ASuBiH is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profit organization that gathers over 1,200 high school students in 62 local communities across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Global Money Week” is a project originally initiated by the CYFI (Child and Youth Finance Initiative) and is aimed at inspiring children and young people to be informed about money, support and entrepreneurship. This project was launched in 2012 as the “Child Finance Day” and has since affected the lives of 7.8 million children and young people, through 23,700 organizations and in as many as 137 countries. ASuBiH has been part of their campaign since 2015.

This year the project was focused on fundraising competitions and fund raising among local teams. The members of ASuBiH held two “Face Painting” workshops with participants from 4-7 years of age, and with an 8+ group. The parents of the participants, who wished to support this action, had the opportunity to donate 1,00BAM. All the money that was collected goes to the Local Team Brčko Fund, which will be used for further activities.

The 4-7 group was held from 11:00 to 13:00, and the ages 8+ was held from 14:00 to 15:30, both were in the Youth Center of Brčko District. In addition to face painting, various games of the competitive spirit were held, and discussions on money, attitude towards money and the importance of savings were had.
