Global Day of Parents
The International Day of Parents is celebrated every June 1st in honor of the parents and their love and commitment to their children. This date was established by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2012.
The Youth Organization Svitac (Firefly) created together with international and local volunteers a workshop for participant’s age 4-7 years. The participants made cards for their parents and were taught English words on the topic of parenting and family, including the phrase “I love my parents”, which they wrote in their greeting cards.
Svitac (Firefly) celebrated the International Day of Parents with the afternoon groups as well. Participants learned in German how to say parents, father, mother, family and other vocabulary words related to parents/family. In the second part, team-building sports competition games were held.
