My EVS in the Netherlands as a Svitac (Firefly) volunteer – Azra Memišević

Hello, my name is Azra and my EVS experience took place in organization Don Bosco  in The Netherlands.

I worked with the age group of 11 – 12, which is for me, the most interesting and the easiest age group to work with. But none of this would have been easy if I did not have the best of team leaders. They helped me improve my volunteer experience.
EVS was a fairytale, inspirational and an unreal experience for me. All the way, from the very beginning to the end of this unreal “journey”, I met good and dear people and made many friendships. I have the feeling that EVS helped me dive into an infinite source of opportunities!

I faced some fears, which will greatly help me in life, because these fears have bothered me and caused me to stumble away from some of my goals and ambitions. All of these things somehow become easier and easier, you start to see that the boundaries are fictional and are all just in your head. I realized how time really flies and how it should be cherished every day. You realize that this present moment is precious and unrepeatable and you must enjoy the moment.

You know that some things may not happen again and you must grab hold of as much as you can. And there are boundaries that you are breaking, because you see how much you can and how much you are capable of and how insufficient you will be if you do not exploit your potential in some normal circumstances. You see that there are no mistakes, all of you becomes an opportunity for learning, an opportunity for improvement and development.
My adventure is over but I took with me friendship, many experiences and many memories that I will never replace. I am grateful for the amazing journey that I experienced.
